It's by this method that I've been vaguely aware of a story involving same-sex marriage and Miss California. Here's the summary if you missed it...
Original Miss CA, Carrie Prejean (I'm sure there's a Levis joke in there somewhere) was tossed out and 'de-crowned' for saying that she believed - like a majority of Californians - that marriage is defined as between 1 man and 1 woman. She was replaced by Tami Ferrell (runner-up maybe?)....
...who apparently holds the same belief.
The line of the story is from Ferrell, who shows commendable humor and perspective in saying:
"You know, I think it's hilarious right now that the world is turning to beauty queens for the answers..."

ReplyDeleteJust to clarify, she wasn't yanked for her beliefs. If that was the case, she would have lost her crown weeks ago. She finally got yanked because she wasn't following with the appearances protocols. Got a little big for her britches, one might say....
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, and maybe taking topless photos weren't the best plan if one wants to keep your crown.....
From what I've heard and read she was actually fired over a contract issue regarding a book deal. I still believe it has all stemmed from her answer to the question regarding same sex marriage. I also understand that she turned down a playboy shoot which didn't fare well for her...
ReplyDeleteThere were several issues, but people quit because she DIDN'T have her crown yanked after her comment and they still kept her on. If she hadn't completely lost the plot with her diva-esque behavior, she would still have her crown. So much for he being able to wave from the high road.
