Like "Rudy" but better
If you have ever played, watched, read about, listened to or otherwise enjoyed a sport of any kind (for the sake of argument, I'll even include baseball in this one), you MUST read Aaron's post about the recent Liverpool-Havant and Waterlooville match. Even if you have never given soccer or any other sport a second's thought, you will enjoy the sheer feel-good nature of this post...

Thanks for the mention Matt!
ReplyDeleteI just re-read the section from their website and got chills myself. My part is pretty much just there for context, as most people won't understand the background to this story (and thus not understand the significance). The golden nugget here is the section from their site.
I was thinking of other comparisons not related to sport. It would be like Hildreth getting to play lead guitar for U2 at a concert in Dublin, or Mike playing keyboard for The Police. Or, maybe like your Dad flying in formation with Yeager or Marshall and you going on a hunting trip with the best of the best. Dreams come true my friend...with the world watching!
Guys,
ReplyDeleteIf you ever watched the European Cupfinal, in which Ruud Gulit and Marco van Basten were acting and playing, then football was in those days at its best. Now we see , its a shame to say...only bits and pieces...in premiere league..but its still amusing enough to look at.
A true Dutch Football minded person.
Robert, the neighbour of Matthew in Kerch!
Ahhh, come now Robert. You can't tell me that you look fondly on the "good old days" of European football when it was still pure after you tell me you're a Barca fan!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't get much more commercialized and "plastic" than that! Hahahahaha. Thanks for the comment - let's get together sometime and watch a little football, ok?
