Liverpool 1 - Middlesbrough 1
I was only able to listen to about 25 minutes of the second half of this game live, but by the sound of the announcer, the Reds were absolutely horrible for no less than 60 minutes of this game. Boro isn't the easiest place to go grab a win, but these are the games we must win if we plan to qualify for next year's Champions League. Middlesbrough started off scoring as George Boateng netted in the 26th minute and they looked like they were off to the races. LFC brought on expensive but little used Dutchman Ryan Babel at the half but it wasn't until Spanish star Fernando Torres struck in the 70th that we looked like we even had a chance at a result. Unlike against Luton, this squad was nearly as good on paper as any that the Reds can field and it is this that has me concerned.
Here's the round up of the rest of the games:
Arsenal 1 - Birmingham 1
Aston Villa 3 - Reading 1
Chelsea 2 - Tottenham 0
West Ham Utd 2 - Fulham 1
Everton 1 - Man City 0
Derby County 0 - Wigan 1
Man U 6 - Newcastle 0
Haha...don't worry, United are back on top after Arsenal dropped point to Birmingham! The Spurs game was actually pretty good, but it was pretty clear that Chelsea were of a higher quality. Anyway, have you looked at the table? There is like a 4 way tie for fourth and LFC is only in 4th because of goal differential. I know they have a game in hand, but...
ReplyDeletep.s. I saw at the store yesterday a "pub" table and chair set. I had this great idea that when I finish my basement (sometime in the next 20 years), I could totally do it up like a soccer pub (less the alcohol part). Mini fridge, microwave, some tables and chairs...and then a few small cheap tvs hanging from the corners of the room with one big tv all on the same game (with use of a cable splitter)! Totally like a pub. Ok, that's over the top and probably not a good message to send my kids as they get older but fun to think about anyway.
I like the way you think. The only problem with that plan is the games are usually on early morning on your side. I usually don't feel like pub hopping at that time of day. Here the games are actually LATER which is kind of annoying too. A good afternoon game doesn't hit till 6pm here, which is when dinner is served. Oh well...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment
How about an Italian Espresso stand then? Course, that wouldn't really fit...ummm...an English Breakfast Tea join complete with "strumpets"!
